Editorial Guidelines
How we review AI health tools. What we source. Who reviews clinically. How we correct mistakes.
What we do
Independent reviews of AI health and medical software. Every review includes hands-on testing where possible, pricing verification against vendor pricing pages, and — for clinical content — review by a named licensed medical professional.
Who reviews clinical content
Clinical content (diagnostic efficacy claims, safety framing, clinical-benchmark citations, FDA-clearance statements) is reviewed by a licensed medical professional before publication. Reviewer name, credentials, and review date appear at the top of every clinically-reviewed page.
Editorial content (pricing, feature matrices, EHR integration lists) is produced by our editorial team without clinical review. The distinction is marked per page.
Sourcing standards
- Clinical evidence: peer-reviewed journals (PMC, Nature, NEJM AI, JAMA), systematic reviews. Every efficacy claim cites a specific study.
- Regulatory: FDA AI/ML-enabled device list, with access date. DOJ/FTC filings linked directly.
- KLAS: KLAS Research scores are cited where vendor-published, with date.
- Pricing: vendor pricing pages; re-verified quarterly.
- User ratings: G2, Capterra, Trustpilot — current counts linked directly.
Update cadence
- Pricing and feature data: re-verified quarterly.
- FDA clearance status: re-verified monthly against the FDA AI/ML-enabled device list.
- Regulatory events (DOJ, FTC, HHS-OCR): tracked and reflected within 72 hours.
- Clinical-evidence citations: reviewed semi-annually by our clinical reviewer.
Editorial independence
Rankings are independent of commission amount. Vendors do not preview drafts. We do not accept paid placements. The full statement, including how rankings are decided and what happens when we get something wrong, lives at Editorial Independence.
Conflict-of-interest policy
- No paid placements disguised as editorial content.
- Vendors do not preview or edit reviews.
- Our clinical reviewer declares any financial relationships with reviewed tools; reviewers with undisclosed relationships do not review those tools.
